Using a tv cable for your Samsung i8510

Well, the retail package does not come a TV-Out cable like my previous phone, which is a bit of a dissapointment (even though I didn’t use it that much). Backtracking a bit, having one of these will literally let you plug it in to your TV, and use it as a secondary screen. For the most part, it makes a great Divx player, or an adhoc way to browse the web on a larger screen.

It turns out that gersbo here knows his stuff, having tried a standard Nokia CA-75U cable. This is the same one used in the Nokia 95 phones (but not the N93). It worked fine! Great news for those upgrading from this phone.

It looks like this:

As you can see, the cable connects to the Headphones input. This is also good news, as I’m aware of older video cameras, and the older iPod’s (now known as classic) had a similar connector. The advantage is that you should be able to find a cheap cable if you need too - it is a 3.5mm to RCA connector at your local hobby shop.

An example of a place that makes them is arlec, here , and a expensive find at cable chick here . Besides that, there are a fair few cheap cables you can get on eBay too -  I looked for Samsung i8510 TV cable and got a few results.

Just another fun thing to think about with your new toy. With the phone just trickling in to Australia as Christmas arrives, hopefully this will be a popular phone.
